Signature Time Period:
Michael Lumbrazo's newest release "Rock Dam Brookie" comes from a recent camping trip in 2009
to the Moose River Plains in the Adirondack's. It rained every day that week and the streams were
high. The fishing was great.
The Purpose:
The Adirondacks have played a large role in my life; its beauty, pure silence and challenges
offer much for the creative mind to wonder. I consider myself a sportsman at heart. Fishing is relaxing and
allows me an excuse to get lost in the woods. If you have ever walked a stream you know the sounds, smells and a sense of
timeless freedom that continually calls you back that I speak of.
The Process:
My experience with the trout species brings back memories of muted colors.
The use of cadmium orange light, raw umber, French ultra-marine blue, mars black and hookers green
helped capture this past memory.
"Rock Dam Brookie" is a 20" x 30" painting that is stretched on a kiln dried pine frame
with portrait canvas and painted with Winsor and Newton professional
acrylics. The painting has a satin finish that generates a warm glow.
Its Meaning:
This species is quick and colorful. One day you can catch several trout and the next
day none. It's the challenge that defines this painting. Learning to read the trout's environment
and habits is a life long endeavor that everyone should experience.
